HPUCC’S NEWSLETTER FOR YOUTH
JANUARY 1, 2012
CHECK OUT OUR WEBSITE AT www.hpucc.org
FIRST SUNDAY OF EACH MONTH “YOUTH FELLOWSHIP” PLUS A FEW OTHER DATES
Youth Fellowship will meet each first Sunday of the month from 4:30 until 6:30 p.m. Our time together will consist of an activity, food (there will always be a vegetarian option) and a brief closing devotion. Bring a friend or two. Schedule continues:
January – an exception already! Since we will be on retreat January 13-15 (details follow) we won’t have a Youth Fellowship meeting in January. We hope you can come on the retreat, and bring a friend, too!
February 5 – “Souper Bowl” party! Youth group members will receive donations of soup and money for the local food banks in the morning, then we’ll do a count at our meeting and go online and report totals. After we load the soup into my van for next morning delivery, we’ll proceed with our Super Bowl party! Games and food are on the agenda.
SUNDAY SCHOOL CLASSES
No classes on January 8th for anyone, since we have a 9:30 a.m. service followed by a congregational meeting to adopt our 2012 budget.
No S.S. for youth on January 15th, since many of us will be at Hartman Center for our winter retreat. Are you signed up? Friends are welcome. We’ll do some planning on the retreat of Sunday School topics for the next few months.
SERVICE PROJECTS
March 17 – Crispus Attucks dinner. This is a chance for youth and parents to work together on a service project. Details will follow after I meet with our mission committee but, in the meantime, mark your calendars now and plan to serve dinner – youth and your parents – at the Crispus Attucks Center.
March 24 – Spaghetti Supper and Mission Auction. A spaghetti supper and mission auction will help to finance an adult work camp to St. Louis in April and a trip to National Youth Event at Perdue University in July. Plan to help with both the supper and the auction.
ANNUAL RETREAT PLANNED
January 13-15, 2012 is the Hamilton Park Church winter youth retreat at Hartman Center’s Stone House. You won’t want to miss it – put it on your calendar today.
